Ah! Another Presidential practice and hence more Presidential songs! But enough about me. Let’s talk about Chip. Enjoy.
As you may already know, Matthew Gerken, Jeff Pitcher, and myself have a big huge boxed set coming out later this month–a triple CD set of songs called Of Great and Mortal Men: 43 Songs about 43 U.S. Presidencies. It’s pretty amazing, really. All the basic mixes are done and we’re headed to our beloved studio here in Sacramento to do the final mixes next month. Yeow. This will be quite a load off when it’s all done.
In any case, we’ll be taking this project to SXSW this year–my third time running–and subsequently we’ll be doing some touring for it as well. It’s a big record for us, suffice to say.
I asked Heather Phillips, our general helper and road manager (and Matthew’s womanfriend) to do some filming of our practices leading up to SXSW. This is the first of those–clumsily edited by yours truly. There will be more of these–many more.
I’m afraid I’m going to be tight-lipped about these Presidents songs, so no sharing of those. (With my apologies.) We’ll roll one out per month via Pitchfork or CMJ or some such. Right now though: Radio silence. I can tell you the whole thing comes out in late May or early June (depending on how mixing goes).
Pitchfork was kind enough to run a little news item on our ongoing Presidential madness. You can read it here.
